Frequently Asked Questions
Can I run inner tubes in the SES 2.3 rims?
No. The SES 2.3 is designated for use with tubeless tyres only. Installing inner tubes or using clincher tyres contrary to the rim's tubeless-only specification may compromise safety and void the warranty.
What axle and hub standards does this wheel use?
Front SES 2.3 wheels are 12x100 mm thru-axle; rear wheels are 12x142 mm thru-axle. The wheelset uses ENVE INNERDRIVE disc road hubs with a Centerlock rotor interface. Rear freehub bodies depend on the variant you choose (Shimano HG 11, SRAM XD-R or Campagnolo N3W).
Are Centerlock lockrings included with the wheel?
No. Centerlock lockrings are not included and must be purchased separately if needed. Make sure to use the correct lockring torque and compatibility for your rotor system.
What tire width should I run on the SES 2.3?
The minimum labeled tire size is 25 mm; the 21 mm internal rim width is optimized for modern 25–32 mm tubeless road tyres. This width range offers the best balance of comfort, rolling resistance and aerodynamic performance for the rim profile.
Is the SES 2.3 suitable for gravel or off-road use?
No. The SES 2.3 is explicitly not for off-road or gravel use. It is engineered for paved roads and hilly/mountainous terrain; using it off-road can cause damage and void warranties.
How does the SES 2.3 perform on descents and in crosswinds?
The 28 mm rim depth keeps the wheel stable and predictable in crosswinds while providing aerodynamic benefits on descents. The low rotational weight also helps with responsiveness and acceleration when re-accelerating out of corners or on rolling terrain.
Buying Guide
When choosing a climbing-focused road wheelset, prioritize rotating weight, rim stiffness and tyre compatibility. The SES 2.3's 1274 g wheelset weight and 21 mm internal width make it an excellent choice for riders who want quick acceleration, comfortable lower-pressure tubeless setups and a modest aerodynamic advantage without the handling issues of deep-section rims. Confirm axle spacing, rotor interface and freehub body before purchase. If you ride largely on paved hilly routes and value low mass with modern tubeless performance, the SES 2.3 is a strong option; if your riding includes gravel or rough roads, consider a dedicated gravel or all-road rim instead.
