Frequently Asked Questions
Which Re-Fuse sizes are tubeless-ready?
Selected wider variants (notably the 700x32C and 700x40C) are offered as Tubeless Ready. Always check the SKU details before buying. Tubeless setup requires a tubeless-compatible rim, sealant and proper mounting.
Is the Re-Fuse suitable for racing?
The Re-Fuse is designed primarily as a training and high-mileage tire. While it's fast and predictable, racers who want the absolute lowest rolling resistance and lightest weight typically choose race-specific tires. The Re-Fuse is an excellent choice for training, crits or long-distance events where durability matters.
How puncture-resistant is the Re-Fuse?
Maxxis equips the Re-Fuse with Silkworm B2B bead-to-bead protection which significantly reduces flats compared with unprotected casings. Wider sizes also include MaxxShield reinforcement. That said, no tire is flat‑proof—proper tire pressure and cautious line choice still matter.
Can I use Re-Fuse on an e-bike?
No. The Re-Fuse is not e-bike approved. Maxxis does not rate this tire for e-bike use, so do not use it on e‑assist bikes that require e‑bike‑rated tires for higher speeds and loads.
What pressure should I run for 25C and 32C Re-Fuse tires?
The 25C Re-Fuse is rated up to 120 PSI; typical road pressures are 90–120 PSI depending on rider weight and rim. For 32C gravel/road use, you’ll usually run 50–75 PSI. Always follow rim manufacturer limits and adjust for comfort, load and road surface.
Are replacement tubes required for tubeless-ready variants?
You can use tubeless-ready Re-Fuse tires either tubeless with rim tape/sealant or as standard clinchers with inner tubes. If you prefer the convenience of tubes, they work fine; for lower pressures and fewer pinch flats, set them up tubeless.
Buying Guide
Choosing the right Re-Fuse comes down to intended use: pick 25C for fast, high-pressure road training and commuting where minimizing weight and rolling resistance matters. Opt for the 32C or 40C Tubeless Ready versions when your routes include rough pavement, gravel or if you prefer lower pressures for extra comfort and traction. Consider whether you'll run tubeless—tubeless setups reduce pinch flats and allow lower pressures, but require compatible rims, sealant and a little setup effort. For everyday training durability and predictable handling in mixed conditions, the Re-Fuse offers excellent value-per-mile.
