Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Country Dry 2 tubeless-ready?
No. The Michelin Country Dry 2 is a wire-bead clincher and is not tubeless-ready. It is designed to be run with an inner tube. Attempting to convert a non–tubeless-ready tyre to tubeless can be unreliable and is not recommended.
What terrain is this tyre best suited for?
This tyre excels on dry, packed trails and hardpack singletrack where fast rolling and cornering traction matter. It is less suited for muddy, loose or very rocky conditions where wider spacing and deeper knobs are beneficial.
What inner tube should I pair with this tyre?
Use a 26" inner tube rated for 1.75–2.25" tyres. A high-quality, butyl tube with a matching valve type (Presta or Schrader depending on your rim) will give reliable performance and easy installation.
Is the tyre compatible with modern rims and frames?
Yes for most classic 26" setups — the tyre has ISO 559 bead diameter. Check your frame and fork clearance as well as rim inner width; the tyre performs best on medium-width rims and may appear wider or flatter on very wide rims.
What PSI should I run?
The labeled pressure range is 29–58 PSI. Lower pressures improve traction and comfort (avoid pinch flats), while higher pressures reduce rolling resistance for heavier riders or when carrying loads. Adjust pressure based on rider weight, rim width and trail conditions.
Is this tyre approved for e-bikes?
No. The Country Dry 2 is not e‑bike approved and should not be used as a primary tyre on electric-assist mountain bikes.
Buying Guide
When choosing a mountain tire for dry trails, balance tread design, casing suppleness and bead type. Tighter centre knobs and supportive shoulder knobs give fast rolling with cornering confidence on hardpack, while a higher TPI casing improves conformity and traction at the expense of some puncture resistance. Wire bead tyres are economical and durable but require tubes. Decide whether tubeless capability is essential for your riding. If you want lower running pressures and fewer flats, opt for tubeless-ready tyres and compatible rims. For classic 26" bikes or budget builds, a supple 30TPI clincher like the Country Dry 2 offers an excellent compromise of grip, comfort and value for dry-condition riding.
