Overview & Technology

Works Components RF Cinch Direct Mount is a precision CNC-machined chainring purpose-built for RaceFace CINCH cranksets (ERA, ERA-E, NEXT R, NEXT SL, Turbine, Atlas, SIXC). Made in the UK from 7075-T6 aluminium and anodised for corrosion resistance, the ring combines a light chassis with the strength needed for aggressive mountain riding. Proven tooth geometry — the Narrow/Wide tooth pattern has been refined from years of field testing to improve chain retention and longevity in wet, muddy and gritty conditions. The tooth profile is the same design that earned a 10/10 review from MBR for durability and quiet, reliable shifting.

Key Features & Construction

Material & machining: CNC machined from heat-treated 7075-T6 aluminium for high strength-to-weight performance. Full anodise finish protects against corrosion and abrasive wear while keeping weight low (approx. 0.15 lb for the 30T). Optimised tooth profile: The tried-and-tested narrow/wide teeth are cut to a profile that sheds mud and grit, reduces chain drop, and distributes wear across the tooth flank for longer service life. Comes in a 3mm Boost offset to sit correctly in modern Boost frames and drivetrain geometries. • Direct Mount: RaceFace CINCH interface (no BCD spider needed) • Speeds: Compatible with 10, 11 and 12-speed chains (excludes Shimano 12spd) • Finish: Hard-anodised black for low glare and durable surface

Fit, Compatibility & Specifications

This RF Cinch ring is a direct mount for RaceFace CINCH crank spiders — confirmed compatible models include ERA, ERA-E, NEXT R, NEXT SL, Turbine, Atlas and SIXC. It uses the CINCH direct-mount interface so installation is simple and secure without a BCD adaptor. Technical specs: 30 teeth (also available in 32T), 3mm Boost offset, front position, material 7075-T6 aluminium, weight ~0.15 lb. Designed to work with 10/11/12-speed chains but not compatible with Shimano 12-speed. Shipping dimensions: 7" x 6.5" x 0.2".

Who It's For

This chainring is aimed at mountain riders who demand reliable chain retention and low-maintenance performance on aggressive trail, enduro and all-mountain bikes. If you ride in variable conditions—mud, rain, fine dust—the optimised tooth geometry will keep your chain tracking and reduce drops. It suits riders running RaceFace CINCH cranks who want a durable, low-weight aluminium option that’s serviceable and easy to swap for race day, local laps or a multi-day outing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this fit my RaceFace CINCH crank?

Yes — the RF Cinch Direct Mount is designed specifically for the RaceFace CINCH interface and fits ERA, ERA-E, NEXT R, NEXT SL, Turbine, Atlas and SIXC cranksets. It mounts directly to the CINCH spider without a BCD adaptor.

Is the ring compatible with all 12-speed chains?

The ring is compatible with most 12-speed chains, but it is explicitly not compatible with Shimano 12-speed due to Shimano's unique chain profile. It works with 10- and 11-speed chains as well.

How durable is 7075-T6 aluminium compared to steel?

7075-T6 aluminium offers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and, when CNC machined and anodised, provides long service life for chainrings. Steel can resist wear longer in some cases, but 7075-T6 balances low weight with high structural strength—ideal for performance mountain use.

Do I need special tools to install the direct mount ring?

Installation uses the standard RaceFace CINCH bolt and tool interface. You’ll need the correct hex/torx tool for your CINCH bolt system; no special ring-specific tools are required beyond standard crank hardware tools.

How does the tooth profile perform in muddy conditions?

The optimised narrow/wide tooth profile was developed from years of field testing to improve mud-shedding and reduce chain retention issues. Riders report quieter operation, fewer drops, and slower wear progression even in gritty, wet conditions.

What gearing options are available?

This line is available in multiple tooth counts; we list 30T and 32T for direct mount CINCH. Choose based on your terrain and cadence preferences—30T for steeper climbs and tighter cadence, 32T for higher top-end speed.

Buying Guide

When choosing a direct-mount chainring for a RaceFace CINCH crank, match the ring's offset (this one is 3mm Boost) and tooth count to your frame spacing and riding style. For technical climbs and tighter cadence choose a smaller tooth count (30T); if you want faster rolling speed on flatter trails, step up to 32T. Consider chain compatibility—this ring supports most 10/11/12-speed chains but excludes Shimano 12-speed—and factor in conditions you'll ride in. The 7075-T6 aluminium construction gives an excellent mix of durability and low weight, making it a versatile choice for trail and enduro riders who value reliability and performance.
