The SRAM 3.0 Comp GripShift delivers light, precise indexed twist shifting for 3x7/3x8 drivetrains. QuickView gear indicators, 50mm 'Shorty' Grilon grip, and easy cable change make it a durable, easy-to-service MTB option.

SRAM 3.0 Comp is a no-nonsense, reliable twist-shifter built for mountain riders who want simple, precise gear changes without breaking the bank. The unit uses indexed GripShift technology for crisp positional indexing across 3x7 and 3x8 setups and includes a QuickView indicator to see both front and rear gear positions at a glance.
Construction centers on a 50mm "Shorty" Grilon grip — a lightweight, glass-reinforced polyamide that balances strength, low weight and tactile comfort. The shifter body is engineered for easy cable access and fast maintenance, and the model (TS-30-A1, MPN 00.0000.200.653) is optimized to pair with SRAM 1:1 rear derailleurs and either SRAM or SHIMANO front derailleurs for broad compatibility.
Indexed precision: The 3.0 Comp provides reliable, repeatable clicks for crisp shifts on climbs and technical singletrack — no guessing and fewer missed shifts. The QuickView indicator reduces on-trail fumbling by displaying front and rear positions together, helping you keep eyes on the trail.
Lightweight, durable construction: The 50mm Grilon grip is tough against abrasion and weather, yet keeps rotational inertia low for fast response. Easy cable change saves time during maintenance or field repairs, and the shifter is available in rear, front and paired configurations for flexible replacements or upgrades.
Install the shifter with the QuickView window easily visible while in your riding position. Rotate the grip so the indicator sits near the top of the bar for fastest read.
Available as a pair or as front/rear single units. Choose 7-speed or 8-speed rear variants to match your drivetrain.
The 3.0 Comp is designed specifically for mountain handlebars and works with standard MTB brake lever spacing and 22.2mm grip diameters (common on mountain bikes). Compatibility is confirmed with SRAM 1:1 rear derailleurs and both SRAM and SHIMANO front derailleurs. Available variants support 7- and 8-speed rear indexing and a 3-speed front option.
Installation is straightforward: the shifter uses a conventional cable routing and the housing entry allows quick cable swaps without disassembling the entire unit. Choose the correct left/right variant for front or rear duties and ensure cable tension is set to the derailleur manufacturer's spec for best performance.
The SRAM 3.0 Comp is ideal for riders who want a durable, cost-effective shifting solution: cross-country beginners, commuters on mountain-style bikes, rental fleets, and anyone restoring a hardtail or budget trail bike. Its simple indexed design and QuickView readout make it particularly well-suited to riders who value low-maintenance gear and predictable shifting on varied terrain.
If you ride aggressive enduro or demand ultra-precise multi-speed setups (9/10/11-speed), look to higher-tier shifters — but for 3x7/3x8 MTB setups the 3.0 Comp is a practical, long-lived choice.
When choosing twist (GripShift) shifters, match the number of rear speeds (7 or 8) and the front chainring count (3) to your current drivetrain. Confirm rear derailleur actuation — the 3.0 Comp is tuned for SRAM 1:1 rear derailleurs for precise indexing.
Consider how you ride: twist shifters are low-maintenance and intuitive for commuting, rental fleets, and beginner to intermediate mountain riders. For racers or riders using higher-speed cassettes, step up to more advanced indexed trigger shifters that support 9–12 speeds and tighter pull ratios.
